Warhammer 40k: New bases for Space Marines?

So Deathstorm (DS) has changed some base sizes that we know, and made new sizes and shapes for old models.

The Death Company box has been pulled form GWs online store, the Death company in the DS have 32mm round bases, the old ones in the Battleforce (still on GW's web site) have the standard 25mm round base.

On the Tyranid side of things have changed as well. The Broodlord was on the 40mm round base and the DS one is on a 75mm Oval base.

The Carnifex was on the 60mm round base and the DS version is on a 105mm Oval base.
I hate when 40k started with Oval bases as you can turn the models and the distance changes, so cheesye players can use this as an advantage. Round bases keep the distance the same from all angles. That's all for the "cheesy" part of this rant.

What I really wanted to look at was that all Space Marines in Power Armour may be getting this new 32mm round base size. Look at the new Blood Angel Tactical Marine picture, they are all on this new base size.

So what are your thoughts on any of the new Bases? And as always For the Allfather, For Russ, and For Fenris!!!

Thunderhawk Pt 2

So the project is on hold for a moment as I am waiting on some Oyumaru also known as Instant molding sticks. I have two heavy bolters but I need 8. You can get them on ebay and a few other sites, here is the one I purchased http://www.ebay.com/itm/251271738205?var=550237256016&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I was asked to see her next too some Marines, so her ya go!

Here is a Prow view, the door on the left is a landraider door, the right is a rhino.

This is a Starboard view, The landraider door is about where it should go.

Some pics show rhinos driving off the front ramp, and it would fit!

An Aft View.

A picture from above.

At the moment she is not glued together she is pinned with tooth pics! As for her Dimensions she is about the same size as a Forge World Thunderhawk. The folks at Warseer say the FW ones hull is about 5'' and mine is about 4''

New Apocalypse update!

I found this pic as I was jumping around the web! Nice model, I hope that it will open and close and not need to be built one way or the other. This is going to be a great summer for Warhammer 40k Players!

The rise of Titans

So Buy now you all have most likely seen the July cover for white dwarf.

I am not usually a fan of large point value games, but Apocalypse has always held a special place in my heart. I would say it springs from my love of team battles. As its great fun to team up and do giant battles like you read about all over 40k, the wars for Armageddon, and the Crusade of Fire. I watched my brother Slay a Greater Demon of Khorne with a missile shot in a 5000pt 4 on 4 way back in 2nd edition. To the first Apocalypse game I ran at a flgs of 10,000 pt. That game was 4 players a side, 2,500pts each. The points were raised from 2,000 each when I saw the warlord titan in the Apoc book. I was going to bring my wolves but the hook was set as I remembered reading the comic Titan God Machine, and from there I had one month to build my Warlord.

I based it off the Forge World of Graia from the Relic Space Marine game, the older history about this forge world is that its the home of the Titan legion of The Legio Astraman (AKA the Morning Stars) and I used there color scheme. The teams were Space Wolves (not mine), Imperial guard, Tau, and my Warlord Titan versus Chaos Marines, Necrons, Orks, and Renegade Imperial Guard. If you have ever seen the stats on a warlords weapons and thought WOW, then let me tell you as one Princeps to another, the stats are as nothing to seeing them put to use on the table!

Armed with Apocalypse Missile Launcher, Vortex Missle, Volcano Cannon, and Quake Cannon.

Enemy in sight turn 1
After the Titans first shooting phase our foes have lost a Monolith, Canoptek Tomb Stalker, a squad of Necron Warriors, Necron Lord, Chimra with comand Squad, Havok squad, Vindicator, Defiler, A ruin and a few other things. The Voetex Missile was a beast!

So what are your thoughts about a New Apocalypse?

Space Wolves Psychic Power Cards

There are sets of  Psychic Powers Cards out for the new books, but not the old ones. So I set out to make a set for the Sons of Russ!

My first set of cards I made was with a 50% photocopy of the powers page, then I traced Magic Cards on too card stock, then I cut out and glued the powers to the card. These worked good and I was able to make them with things around the house.

But then a few people at the FLGS had the new fancy GW cards, and made me want to make nicer looking ones. So with a little search on the web I found these Space Wolves styled card backs (Highland_Piper from dakka dakka did the card back art!). Then I scanned the powers page and a little MS:Paint magic later I had these! To have a set of your own Just print one side, put the paper back in upside down and print the other side. A little note, put a small mark on the top of the paper before you load and print, then put it back in with the mark down! My next step is to cut them out and get them laminated at Kinko's.

Home Brew: Zone Mortalis Part 2

Welcome back! I hope that you liked Zone Mortalis and are ready to go 3D!

First off you will need these tools:
1) A pen or pencil
2) A black Marker
3) A ruler
4) A razor knife or scissors
5) A pile of cardboard (I used comic book protector sheets)
6) A hot glue gun and glue sticks
7) Black spray paint
8) Grey spray paint
9) All the stuff from Home Brew: Zone Mortalis Part 1

For every Alpha Zone Tile you will need to cut...
x1 12" x 12" base plate
x2 3" x 2" end wall pieces
x2 8" x 3" inside wall pieces
x2 10" x 3" outside wall pieces
x1 8" x 2" roof piece
x1 10" x 2" roof piece

Spray the base piece Black, if you leave some small gaps it will let the cardboard's natural brown show threw and make the tile look gritty. Then spray the other pieces Grey, Do two light layers as this will make it look as worn concrete or plas-steel.

I start by gluing one 3" x 2" Piece 2" from one corner edge. Then Glue a 8" x 3" straight back from the inside edge of the end piece, do a right angle turn and glue in the next 8" x 3" piece then glue in the other 3" x 2" end piece. Next glue in the first 10" x 3" piece and add the other 10" x 3" piece and let dry. Once its dry Glue on the roof!

For every Beta Zone Tile you will need to cut...
x1 12" x 12" base plate
x4 3" x 2" end wall pieces
x4 6" x 3" wall pieces
x3 4'' x 3'' wall pieces
x1 8'' x 3'' wall piece
x4 4'' x 2'' roof pieces
x1 8'' x 2'' roof piece

Spray the base piece Black, if you leave some small gaps it will let the cardboard's natural brown show threw and make the tile look gritty. Then spray the other pieces Grey, Do two light layers as this will make it look as worn concrete or plas-steel.

I start with the 3" x 2" end piece again 2'' from a corner, then add another on the the inside edge. Add a 6'' x 3'' at a left angle. Off of there take the 8'' x 3'' and glue it at a right angle. Take another right angle and add a 6'' x 3'' piece. Take a 3'' x 2'' piece and glue it down at a left angle from there. Add the last 3'' x 2'' piece as the other wall end. Glue a 4'' x 3'' at a right angle from this end piece, take yet another right angle and add a 6'' x 3''. Take a left angle and glue in a 4'' x 3'' piece, a left from there add the last 6'' x 3'' piece. Add the last 4'' x 3'' piece at a left angle to your starting point piece and let dry. Once its dry Glue on the roof!

For every Delta Zone Tile you will need to cut...
x1 12" x 12" base plate
x16 3'' x 2'' end wall pieces
x8 4'' x 3'' wall pieces
x4 4" x 2'' roof pieces
x4 2'' x 2'' roof pieces

Spray the base piece Black, if you leave some small gaps it will let the cardboard's natural brown show threw and make the tile look gritty. Then spray the other pieces Grey, Do two light layers as this will make it look as worn concrete or plas-steel.

Do this step in each corner...

Glue in one 3" x 2" end piece 2'' from the corner, then add a 4'' x 3'' at a right angle from the inside edge, add another 4'' x 3'' at a right angle to come back to the edge of the tile. Add a 3'' x 2'' on the edge and from there on a right angle add another 3'' x 2'' piece, add a 3'' x 2'' piece at a left angle to your starting point piece and let dry. Once its dry Glue on the roof!

For every Gamma Zone Tile you will need to cut...
x1 12" x 12" base plate
x10 3'' x 2'' end wall piece
x4 4'' x 3'' wall piece
x2 12'' x 3'' wall piece
x2 4" x 2'' roof piece
x2 2'' x 2'' roof piece
x1 12'' x 2'' roof piece

Spray the base piece Black, if you leave some small gaps it will let the cardboard's natural brown show threw and make the tile look gritty. Then spray the other pieces Grey, Do two light layers as this will make it look as worn concrete or plas-steel.

Do this step in two corners...

Two inches from the other end add a 3'' x 2'' end piece, then on a right angle add a 12'' x 3'' wall piece. On the other edge add a 3'' x 2'' end piece, take a right angle and add the other 12'' x 3'' wall piece. once dry add the roof!!

I hope that these are easy to follow with the pictures and directions. I have a few ideas for how to decorate the tiles and to make doors (I use Space Hulk doors.). But that's for another post!

So till next time, For the Allfather, for Russ, and for Fenris!!
